Work of Identical Value
Work that requires comparable professional qualifications, responsibility, and effort from employees.
Definition
The Polish Labour Code defines 'work of an identical value' as work that demands from employees comparable professional qualifications, which can be substantiated by official documents or through demonstrated professional practice and experience. Crucially, it also requires comparable levels of responsibility and effort. This definition is used to objectively compare different job roles and determine if they should receive equal remuneration, thereby preventing pay disparities based on subjective or discriminatory criteria. The upcoming EU Pay Transparency Directive further emphasizes objective job evaluation based on these and other criteria like working conditions.
