Wages Authority
A body designated by the Minister of Labour to resolve wage-related disputes.
Definition
The Wages Authority is an enforcement body established under the Jordan Labour Law, designated by the Minister of Labour. It is responsible for considering and resolving disputes related to wages, including issues of late payment, illegal deductions, overtime remuneration, and, critically, cases of wage discrimination for work of equal value. Its jurisdiction was expanded by the 2019 amendments to cover disputes even after the termination of employment for a specified period, enhancing worker protection.
