Wage Dumping
The practice of underpaying employees below legally mandated or collectively agreed-upon remuneration.
Definition
Wage dumping (Lohndumping) refers to the illegal practice where employers pay their employees less than the minimum remuneration they are entitled to according to Austrian law, statutory regulations, or applicable collective bargaining agreements. This includes all components of pay, such as basic wages, overtime premiums, allowances, bonuses, and special payments like the 13th and 14th monthly salaries. It is a key target of the LSD-BG to ensure fair competition and protect workers from exploitation.
