Variable Working Hours
An arrangement where an employee's working hours fluctuate between a minimum and maximum.
Definition
Variable working hours refer to an employment arrangement where the employee's working time within a specified period varies between a minimum and maximum amount as agreed in the employment contract, or where the employee commits to working for the employer when separately called upon. Act 744/2022 introduced specific provisions requiring employers to regularly review the actualization of these hours and offer contract amendments if actual work consistently exceeds the agreed minimum, ensuring greater predictability and fairness for employees in such arrangements.
