Suicidio Femicida, translated as 'femicidal suicide,' is a specific criminal offense introduced into the Chilean Penal Code (Article 390 sexies) by Law No. 21,523. This provision targets individuals who, through previous acts constituting gender violence against a woman, cause her suicide. It represents a significant legal innovation aimed at holding perpetrators accountable for the ultimate fatal consequences of gender-based violence, recognizing the continuum of violence that can lead to such tragic outcomes.
