The Secretaría del Trabajo y Previsión Social (STPS) is the federal executive branch agency in Mexico responsible for formulating and implementing national labor policies. Its functions include promoting decent work, ensuring compliance with labor laws, mediating labor disputes, and overseeing occupational safety and health. Under the Article 86 reform, the STPS, along with state labor authorities, is explicitly mandated to conduct inspections to verify adherence to equal pay for work of equal value, playing a central role in the enforcement of pay equity.
