Definition
The State Inspectorate of the Republic of Croatia (Državni inspektorat) is the primary central state administrative body tasked with overseeing the implementation of laws and other regulations pertaining to working conditions, labor relations, and occupational safety. In the context of the Law on Minimum Wage, the State Inspectorate is responsible for conducting supervision over its application, including investigating complaints regarding non-payment or underpayment of the minimum wage. Its inspectors have broad powers to inspect workplaces, documents, and records, and to impose penalties on employers who violate the law. The Inspectorate plays a critical role in ensuring compliance and protecting the rights of workers to receive their legally mandated minimum remuneration.
