Sex Characteristics
The physical and biological features of a person related to sex.
Definition
Sex characteristics refer to the chromosomal, gonadal, and anatomical features of a person, which include primary characteristics such as reproductive organs and genitalia, and/or in chromosomal structures and hormones; and secondary characteristics such as muscle mass, hair distribution, breasts, and/or stature. The Act specifically protects the bodily integrity and physical autonomy of individuals regarding their sex characteristics, notably prohibiting non-consensual medical interventions on minors.
