Salary Grade
A specific level within the public sector pay scale to which jobs and titles are classified, determining basic salary.
Definition
A Salary Grade is a fundamental component of the public sector salary system in Slovenia. It represents a specific level within a predefined pay scale, to which various jobs, positions, and titles are classified based on criteria such as required education, complexity of tasks, responsibility, and working conditions. Each salary grade corresponds to a specific basic salary amount. The system, particularly under the 2025 reform, features 67 salary grades, with a nominal difference of 3% between consecutive grades. This classification ensures that positions deemed to have comparable value are assigned to the same or equivalent salary grades, thereby upholding the principle of equal pay for comparable work.
