Periodic Annual Raise

A mandatory annual increase in an employee's salary.

Definition

The periodic annual raise refers to the mandatory yearly increase in an employee's salary. Under the Egypt Minimum Wage Decree 2021, this was set at a minimum of 3% of the social insurance participation salary, with a minimum of EGP 60 for the private sector. This provision, which has been updated by subsequent decrees, aims to ensure that workers' incomes keep pace with inflation and economic changes, providing a guaranteed increment in addition to the minimum wage.
