Ombudsperson
An independent authority established under the Act to receive and decide complaints and appeals related to workplace harassment.
Definition
The 'Ombudsperson' (initially 'Ombudsman') is an independent authority appointed under Section 7 of the Act, responsible for receiving and deciding complaints of harassment, and acting as an appellate body for decisions made by internal Inquiry Committees. The Ombudsperson has powers akin to a civil court and is mandated to decide cases or appeals within ninety days.
