Objective Job Evaluation Factors
Criteria used to assess the value of a job based on its functions, responsibilities, and required skills, independent of the worker's characteristics.
Definition
Article 4 of Law 1496 of 2011 (as modified by Law 2466 of 2025) mandates that employers consider objective factors for evaluating each job. These factors must be directly related to the functions of the position, allowing for the objective establishment of salary and other benefits. Such criteria typically include the nature of the activity, required skills, responsibilities, effort, working conditions, and the level of occupational risk. The purpose is to ensure that pay decisions are based on the inherent demands and value of the job, rather than subjective or discriminatory considerations.
