National Council for Wages (NCW)

A national body responsible for setting minimum wages in Egypt.

Definition

The National Council for Wages (NCW) is an official body established under the chairmanship of the Minister of Planning, as per the Egypt Labor Law No. 12 of 2003. Its primary function is to determine and set the minimum wages at the national level, taking into consideration the cost of living and aiming to achieve a balance between wages and prices across the economy, thereby ensuring a basic standard of living for workers.
