National Council on Persons with Disability (NCPD)

The statutory body established under Act 715 to coordinate and oversee the implementation of the Act's provisions and promote the rights and welfare of persons with disabilities in Ghana.

Definition

The National Council on Persons with Disability (NCPD) is established under Section 41 of the Ghana Persons with Disability Act, 2006 (Act 715). Its object and functions, detailed in Section 42, include advising the government on disability issues, promoting the rights of PWDs, facilitating their integration into society, and coordinating activities related to disability. The NCPD is the central administrative and oversight body responsible for ensuring the effective implementation of the Act across Ghana, including maintaining a register of PWDs and submitting annual reports.
