Definition
The National Wages Council (NWC) is an official governmental body established under Article 34 of Labour Law No. 12 of 2003. Chaired by the Minister of Planning and Economic Development, its primary responsibility is to determine the national minimum wage for both public and private sectors, set wage levels based on economic considerations, and establish the minimum annual periodic allowance. The NWC comprises representatives from government, labor unions, and employer organizations to ensure balanced decision-making.
