Minimum Wage Rate

The lowest legal remuneration that employers must pay to employees.

Definition

The 'Minimum Wage Rate' refers to the minimum rate of basic pay determined by the Wage Committee in accordance with the Labour Protection Act B.E. 2541 (1998), as amended. This rate is established to ensure that a general worker can maintain a living standard appropriate to the local economic and social conditions and the capabilities of businesses in that area. It is a fundamental protection ensuring that no employee is paid below a certain threshold, regardless of their nationality, age, or gender.
