The 'Minimum Wage' is the official lowest rate of pay that an employer must provide to a worker, as stipulated in Article 44 of the Labour Code. Article 45 details that this minimum pay is fixed by commissions comprising representatives from the Ministry of National Economy, employers, and workers/salary earners. The minimum wage is intended to be sufficient to cover the essential needs of the worker and their family and is subject to rectification based on economic circumstances.
