Median Hourly Remuneration
The middle hourly pay rate when all employees' hourly pay rates are ordered from lowest to highest.
Definition
Median hourly remuneration represents the hourly pay rate of the middle employee when all employees' hourly pay rates within a specific group (e.g., male or female) are arranged in ascending order. If there is an even number of employees, the median is the average of the two middle values. The median is less affected by extreme high or low earners than the mean and provides another perspective on pay distribution.
