Likestillings- og diskrimineringsloven

Norway's Equality and Anti-Discrimination Act, the primary legal basis for the ARP.

Definition

The Likestillings- og diskrimineringsloven (Equality and Anti-Discrimination Act) is the comprehensive Norwegian law adopted in 2017 and effective from 2018, which aims to promote equality and prevent discrimination across all societal areas. It consolidates previous anti-discrimination laws and provides the legal framework for the Activity and Reporting Duty (ARP). The Act prohibits discrimination on various grounds, including gender, ethnicity, religion, disability, sexual orientation, and age, and mandates proactive measures to achieve real equality.
