Industrial Tribunal

A quasi-judicial body in Malta responsible for hearing and determining disputes arising from employment contracts and industrial relations.

Definitions (2)

Established under the Employment and Industrial Relations Act (Cap. 452), the Industrial Tribunal serves as an independent forum for the resolution of employment-related disputes, including claims of unfair dismissal, discrimination, and unequal pay. It has the authority to make binding decisions, including orders for reinstatement, re-engagement, or compensation, providing a formal and accessible avenue for employees to seek redress for violations of their rights under the Act. Its decisions are legally enforceable and subject to appeal to the Court of Appeal (Inferior Jurisdiction).

The Industrial Tribunal is the main judicial body established under the Employment and Industrial Relations Act (Cap 452) in Malta, responsible for hearing and adjudicating cases related to employment, including claims of discriminatory treatment brought under the Equal Treatment in Employment Regulations. It has the power to order redress and compensation.
