Human Dignity

The inherent value and worth of every individual, protected by the Constitution.

Definition

The Constitution of the Kingdom of Thailand B.E. 2560 (2017) recognizes human dignity as a fundamental principle, as articulated in Section 4, which states that human dignity, rights, liberties, and equality are recognized and protected. The Constitutional Court of Thailand has further affirmed that human dignity is an inherent value tied to being human, existing in every person regardless of characteristics like race, religion, or gender. This principle serves as a bedrock for human rights, including the right to equality and protection against unfair discrimination, thereby influencing the interpretation and application of laws related to employment and fair labor practices.
