Definition
The Gleichbehandlungsgesetz (GlBG) is the Austrian Equal Treatment Act, originally from 1979 and significantly amended in 2004. It prohibits direct and indirect discrimination in the private sector based on gender, ethnic origin, religion or belief, age, and sexual orientation in employment and other areas. It also includes provisions for pay transparency and reporting obligations for larger employers.
