Gender Wage Gap

The difference in average wages between male and female employees within an organization, which general employers with 301 or more regular employees are now obligated to publicly disclose as of July 8, 2022.

The 'gender wage gap' (男女の賃金の差異) refers to the disparity in average remuneration between male and female workers. Under the Ministerial Ordinance, this must be calculated and disclosed for all workers, regular employees, and non-regular employees, typically expressed as women's average wages as a percentage of men's average wages. This metric is a key indicator for assessing pay equity and identifying areas for improvement in employment practices.
