Gender Discrimination in Employment

Any distinction, exclusion, or preference made on the basis of sex which has the effect of nullifying or impairing equality of opportunity or treatment in employment or occupation.

Definition

The Law on the Protection of Rights and Interests of Women broadly prohibits gender discrimination in all stages of employment, including recruitment, hiring, promotion, evaluation, professional title assessment, training, and dismissal. Specific discriminatory practices, such as restricting job opportunities to men, inquiring about marital or childbearing status, or requiring pregnancy tests for employment, are explicitly forbidden. This aims to ensure that women have equal access to employment opportunities and career advancement without facing prejudice based on their gender or family status.
