Flexitime
A working time arrangement allowing employees to vary their daily start and end times within agreed limits.
Definition
Flexitime is a statutory working time arrangement where an employee, within limits agreed upon in advance with the employer, has the flexibility to decide their daily start and end times. The Working Hours Act (872/2019) expanded the daily flexitime limit to four hours, allowing employees to shorten or extend their workday by this amount. There are also limits on the accumulation of excess or deficit hours over a four-month reference period, typically not exceeding 60 hours in excess or falling more than 20 hours short.
