Federal Labor Law (LFT)
The primary law governing labor relations in the private sector in Mexico.
Definition
The 'Federal Labor Law' (Ley Federal del Trabajo or LFT) is the foundational legislation that regulates labor relations between employers and employees in the private sector across Mexico. The Decree reforms and adds provisions to the LFT, integrating the mandate for the eradication of the gender pay gap and the principle of equal pay for work of equal value into its core articles, thereby extending these protections to all private sector workers.
