Definition
The Equality Ombudsman (Diskrimineringsombudsmannen, DO) is a Swedish government agency whose mission is to promote a society free from discrimination. The DO monitors compliance with the Discrimination Act (2008:567) and the Parental Leave Act (1995:584). Its functions include providing advice, investigating complaints of discrimination, and initiating legal proceedings in labor courts on behalf of individuals who have experienced disadvantageous treatment related to parental leave or other grounds of discrimination.
