Definition
The Equality Council is a four-person body appointed by the Human Rights Commission under the Equality Act 2021. Its mandate includes promoting equality, opportunity, and equal pay in the workforce, specifically focusing on equal opportunities for training, advancement, and managerial positions. The Council is also responsible for collecting and publishing data related to these areas to inform policy and public awareness. It comprises a Chair (a lawyer with at least five years' qualification), an employee representative, an employer representative, and an independent member.
