Definition
The Equal Treatment Authority (originally established as the Equal Treatment Ombudsman, and now integrated into the office of the Commissioner for Fundamental Rights) is the public administrative body with overall responsibility for ensuring compliance with the principle of equal treatment. It conducts investigations, makes decisions, can initiate legal actions in the public interest, and imposes administrative fines for violations of the Act, acting as a key enforcement and monitoring body.
