Equal Rights

The principle that all citizens possess the same fundamental rights and freedoms, without discrimination.

Definition

In the context of the Ukrainian Constitution, 'equal rights' refers to the constitutional guarantee that all citizens are equal before the law and have equal constitutional rights and freedoms, with no privileges or restrictions based on race, color of skin, political, religious and other beliefs, sex, ethnic and social origin, property status, place of residence, linguistic or other characteristics. This principle is explicitly extended to opportunities in public, political, cultural, educational, professional training, work, and remuneration.
