Employment and Labour Code

The unified legislative framework for labor relations in Bermuda, comprising the Employment Act 2000 and the Trade Union and Labour Relations (Consolidation) Act 2021.

Definition

The Employment and Labour Code refers to the consolidated body of legislation governing employment and labor relations in Bermuda. It was formed on June 1, 2021, by bringing together the Employment Act 2000, which sets out individual employment standards and rights, and the Trade Union and Labour Relations (Consolidation) Act 2021, which addresses collective bargaining, trade unions, and industrial disputes. This Code provides a comprehensive and harmonized legal structure for all aspects of the employment relationship in the country, replacing older, fragmented labor laws.
