Disadvantageous Treatment
Unfavorable treatment of an employee or job applicant due to their parental leave status.
Definition
Disadvantageous treatment (Missgynnande behandling) refers to any unfavorable action or decision by an employer against a job applicant or employee that is connected to their parental leave. As per Section 16 of the Parental Leave Act (1995:584), this includes, but is not limited to, denying job opportunities, reassigning to less rewarding duties, or impairing salary development. This prohibition is a key anti-discrimination measure designed to protect parents' career progression and pay equity.
