Definitions (2)

The disability pay gap represents the difference in the average hourly earnings between disabled employees and their non-disabled counterparts. Similar to the ethnicity pay gap, it can be measured using mean or median figures and is intended to reveal potential pay discrimination or barriers to career progression faced by disabled individuals. The Equality (Race and Disability) Bill aims to introduce mandatory reporting of this gap for large employers to promote transparency and action.

The Disability Pay Gap represents the difference in the mean and median hourly pay and bonus pay between employees who meet the definition of disability under the Equality Act 2010 and those who do not. This binary comparison seeks to reveal and address pay disparities experienced by disabled workers.
