Directorate of Equality

The Directorate of Equality (Jafnréttisstofa) is a specialized institution under the administration of the Prime Minister in Iceland. Its core responsibilities include monitoring the implementation of the Act on Equal Status and Equal Rights Irrespective of Gender, providing education and information on equality matters, offering advice and assistance, and overseeing the equal pay certification and confirmation processes. It also handles complaints related to discrimination and works proactively to eliminate pay inequality and other forms of discrimination in the labor market.
