Delayed Wages

Wages that are not paid by the due date, subject to specific penalties.

Definition

As defined by the Wage Protection Law, 5718-1958, and referenced in the 1964 Equal Pay Law, 'Delayed Wages' refers to any amount an employer is ordered to pay by a wage collection officer for an equal pay violation, but which remains unpaid 15 days after the decision was given. Such delayed wages are subject to specific penalties, including interest and linkage differentials, under the Wage Protection Law.
