A data subject is the identified or identifiable natural person to whom personal data relates. In the context of employment, employees are considered data subjects, and the Isikuandmete kaitse seadus grants them specific rights regarding the processing of their personal data by their employers. These rights include the right to access their data, request rectification, erasure, or restriction of processing, and to object to certain processing activities.

The Data Subject (Rekisteröity) is the natural person to whom personal data relates. The Tietosuojalaki (1050/2018) and the GDPR are designed to protect the fundamental rights and freedoms of these individuals, particularly their right to privacy, by granting them specific rights regarding the processing of their personal data, such as the right to access, rectify, or erase their data.

A 'data subject' refers to any natural person identified or directly or indirectly identifiable on the basis of personal data. This includes individuals who can be identified by reference to an identifier such as a name, identification number, location data, online identifier, or to one or more factors specific to the physical, physiological, genetic, mental, economic, cultural, or social identity of that natural person. In the context of employment, every employee is considered a data subject.
