Co-determination
The right of employees, through their representatives, to participate in management decisions.
Definition
Co-determination (Mitbestimmung) refers to the right of employees, exercised through their works councils under the Austrian Labor Relations Act (ArbVG), to participate in certain management decisions. This can range from information and consultation rights to the requirement for the works council's consent for specific social and personnel measures, or the ability to conclude binding works agreements.
