Arbitrary Dismissal
Termination of an employment contract by the employer without a legitimate or justified reason.
Definition
Arbitrary dismissal, under the Egypt Labor Law No. 12 of 2003, refers to the termination of an employment contract by the employer without a valid or legitimate reason as prescribed by law. In such cases, the law provides for specific remedies, entitling the dismissed employee to compensation of not less than two months' wage for each year of service, in addition to other legal entitlements, serving as a strong deterrent against unfair termination.
