Appropriate Government

Central Government for certain employments, State Government for others.

Definition

The 'appropriate Government' is defined based on the nature of employment. For employments carried out by or under the authority of the Central Government, railway administration, banking companies, mines, oilfields, major ports, or corporations established by a Central Act, the Central Government is the appropriate authority. For all other employments, the State Government holds this designation, responsible for the Act's implementation and enforcement within its jurisdiction, including rule-making and appointing authorities.
