Allowances
Additional payments for food and accommodation if not provided directly by the employer.
Definition
'Allowances' refer to the supplementary payments mandated by the law to cover essential living costs, specifically food and accommodation, when these are not directly provided by the employer. Under Ministerial Decision No. 25 of 2020, these allowances are set at a minimum of QAR 500 per month for accommodation and QAR 300 per month for food. These provisions are designed to ensure that workers' basic needs are met, even if their employers do not offer in-kind benefits, thereby contributing to their overall welfare and living standards.
