Active measures are prevention and promotion measures aimed at preventing discrimination and serving in other ways to promote equal rights and opportunities regardless of sex, transgender identity or expression, ethnicity, religion or other belief, disability, sexual orientation or age within a given establishment. This work involves investigating risks, analyzing causes, taking preventive actions, and monitoring/evaluating these efforts, as detailed in Chapter 3 of the Discrimination Act.

Active measures refer to the preventative and promotional efforts that employers are legally required to undertake to prevent discrimination and foster equal rights and opportunities regardless of sex, transgender identity or expression, ethnicity, religion or other belief, disability, sexual orientation, or age within their establishment. This includes systematic work on working conditions, pay, recruitment, training, and work-life balance.
